Friday 28th February 2025 - 360 Safe Online Safety Mark

Castleview underwent a rigorous reassessment of the Online Safety provision we provide for our pupils, parents and governors. All stakeholders were interviewed by our assessor Liam Buggs. We were delighted to receive our latest report which confirmed that Castleview has been awarded the 360 Online Safety Mark for a further three years.

Highlights of the report in the three key areas (Leadership, Education and Technology) stated that:

  • Castleview exhibits strong and proactive leadership in all aspects of Online Safety.
  • Castleview provides a comprehensive and multi-faceted Online Safety education programme that extends beyond standalone lessons which fosters high levels of digital literacy across the school community.
  • Castleview demonstrates a strong commitment to maintaining a secure and resilient technological infrastructure.

Our areas of strength were identified as being:

  • Education Provision
  • Community Engagement
  • Digital Leaders

A huge shout out to our Digital Leaders who represent our school so well.  Here they are being interviewed on the assessment day.  Liam was blown away by their contributions; “The Digital Leaders group plays a pivotal role in the school, driving awareness of Online Safety and advocating for the effective use of technology within the school community. This pupil-led initiative fosters peer-to-peer support, serving as a model of best practice for other schools.”

Castleview is being put forward as an example of excellence for other schools engaging in the 360 award.  A BIG THANK YOU to Mrs Harris for all her hard work and expertise.

Tuesday 11th February 2025 - Safer Internet Day

This  year's  theme  was  “Too good to be true? Protecting yourself and others from online scams”. The  Digital  Leader's  got  the  day started  with  an  amazing  assembly.  All  children  from  Reception  to  Year  6  took  part  in  a range  of  activities  with an  online  safety message.

Here are the highlights:-

Friday 17th January - Internet Matters Visit

Castleview welcomed industry visitors from Internet Matters.  This provided a fantastic opportunity to showcase our exemplary Online Safety teaching at Castleview, which was filmed by the Internet Matters team.  Following this, Digital Leaders from Year 5 and 6 were interviewed about their Online habits. Their responses and insights were amazing, even under the pressure of being filmed.  Not to be left out, Mr Rowe, Mr Macgill, Mrs Ahmed and Mrs Harris were also interviewed about their opinions of Online Safety and the contributions they make to keeping children safe at Castleview and in the ever-evolving online world.

During the afternoon, Sheena, from Internet Matters, delivered an Online Safety assembly to the school. There was an extremely exciting conclusion to the assembly! Dan, a representative from Tesco Mobile, presented Mrs Harris with 30 Samsung A9 tablets, which she had won for the school in an Internet Matters competition!  THANKYOU so much Internet Matters and Tesco Mobile for this extremely generous prize.

Tuesday 26th November - Be Internet Legends Day

Castleview celebrated 'Be Internet Legends Day'! The children thoroughly enjoyed the assembly and loved all the shout outs from the Be Internet Legends team! This years theme was celebrating kindness and respecting each other online.  Following the assembly, the children spent the day on a range of Online Safety and Digital Wellbeing activities. Everyone came in mufti wearing colours to represent one of the 'Legends'!

Friday 8th November - Be Internet Legends Live Assembly

We had a face-to–face ‘Be Internet Legends’ assembly from the team Parent Zone team at Google! The assembly taught the children to be safe and confident online explorers. In each of the five Interland Pillars; Sharp, Alert, Secure, Kind and Brave, the children worked through online safety challenges to unlock a secret code. We also welcomed the Ryvers’ Year 5 and 6 Digital Leader team to join in the fun! Please ask your child to tell you what online safety messages they’ve learnt.
