Maths

This week the children have consolidated their knowledge of measures with hands on activities involving mass.  They began by discussing the key vocabulary related to mass and then looked at different types of scales. The children then weighed different objects in the classroom using cubes as the non-standard unit of measure.

English

In English this week, the children began by reading ‘The Tiger Who Came to Tea’. They made puppets and re-enacted the story, playing the role of different characters.  They will go on to retell the story using the key vocabulary, punctuation and expressive language.

Homework

This week we would like the children to practice their phonics by reading their given booklet and by continuing to watch the phonics videos that were sent before the Easter break.

Daily Reading

Children should be reading daily for at least 10 minutes a day. Please do discuss the story with your child in order to check their understanding.

Spellings

This term we will be focussing on different spelling rules.  This week it is adding s and es to words (plurals). If the ending sounds like /s/ or /z/, it is spelled as –s. If it forms an extra syllable, then it is spelled as –es. Please practise spelling the following words. These will be tested on Thursday 25th April 2024.
